Lamhein” is a modern and Indian Classical Dance fusion piece choreographed by Anoushka Pant ’20, with music by Jean-Pierre Rampal, Ravi Shankar, Alla Rakha, Kamala Chakravarty and Sonu Nigam and Shankar Ehsaan Loy. This piece revolves around the choreographer’s experience of shifting gears from India to the United States. The story is all about her transition from home to college. The piece is divided into two sections: the compilation of Anoushka’s life in India before leaving for college and her time spent in college. This dance is dedicated to the choreographer’s family in India and her chosen family at Agnes Scott College.

I am still so gratified that Anoushka Pant selected me to be apart of telling her story. As a dancer, it exposed me to a new world of dance first hand, and I especially enjoyed how she really took the time to explain the significance of each movement. While I have always enjoyed watchin Anoushka perform Indian Classical dance, it was a wonderful feeling to be on the other side of the performance. From this cross-cultural experience, I emerged with a new attention to detail and awareness that can be implemented in not only my dancing, but also in my professional life.
